Amy Tan on Creativity - turning Ordinary into Remarkable

There are a few lectures that stick to your mind for good reasons. Because you can easily relate to them. These are stories from someone’s life that does not seem much different from ours. Every moment of the lecture you hear something that has probably happened to you so many times. The fact that someone, just like you and me, have withstood challenges and have come out successful to be one of the best, is remarkable.

Amy Tan’s profile is very humble. Born to immigrant Chinese parents, she was prepared to be a doctor and a concert pianist by her parents. Ignoring the social and family pressure, Amy Tan created a niche for herself in the literary world. In this video presentation at TED 2008 , she talks about her perception of creativity. She combines paradoxes and logic to evolve her creative aptitudes.

A few of her publications include books such as The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God’s Wife and The Hundred Secret Senses. She was the creative consultant for Sagwa , the Emmy-nominated PBS series for children, and she has appeared as herself on The Simpsons.
