Comscore Releases Data for Most Popular Search Engine – July 2008
ShareComscore has released the data for the most widely used search engines . Quoting the release:
Google Sites led the U.S. core search engine market in July 2008 with 61.9 percent of the searches conducted, up from 61.5 percent in June, followed by Yahoo! Sites (20.5 percent), Microsoft Sites (8.9 percent), Ask Network (4.5 percent), and AOL LLC (4.2 percent).
Americans conducted 11.8 billion searches at the core search engines, representing a 2-percent gain versus June. Google Sites handled nearly 7.3 billion core searches (up 2 percent), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 2.4 billion and Microsoft Sites with 1 billion.
In an interview with Venturebeat, Eric Schmidt expands on Google’s success & plans in internet search, online advertising, mobile & online videos.
“We will make more money from mobile advertising,” Schmidt said when asked about the possibility of mobile computing taking off. The thought is that advertising on mobile platforms will be much more highly targeted than it currently is on the desktop.
A clear indication for all the bloggers & webmasters who wish to earn money from blogs through advertising – blogs have to be search engine friendly. Periodic submission of sites to Google, MSN, Yahoo!, ASK etc are very important. I have created a list of all the high quality search engines where you could submit your blogs & websites.
While Google has recently started taking on advertising for feeds & have also become more stringent with Referral Advertising . Unlike in the past, Adsense publishers are now required to apply separately for publishing Adsense Referral Ads . Google measures the contents’ relevance & based on their evaluation they would selectively enroll Referal Publishers.
