An exhaustive list of all the WordPress Plugins are available on WP Plugins Directory. Before you install them, browse through the comments to ensure that there are no outstanding issues with them.
Also check with the authors website to see all the critical information on them. There is usually a forum page for all the reputed plugin authors where issues & solutions will be discussed.
- Social Media Connect Plugin – This is the Add To Any or Share Button, to share your post in popular networking websites like Digg, StumbleUpon, Technorati, Yahoo Buzz & hundreds more. Any reader could easily share your post with all their friends on their network with this plugin. This will bring in more visitors for all your popular posts.
- WP-Polls plugin – this plugin lets you run polls on your blog. Visitors can express their opinion on a panel of alternative answers to your polling question. Polling is one great way to engage readers. You could also get valuable inputs from your readers through online-polls. [Update: Polls is built into Wordpress from version 2.7 upwards]
- Download Manager Plugin – if you offer downloads from you blog, this free plugin helps you manage secured downloads. Your downloadable files are held securely behind an URL so that users are not able to access your download path directly. This free plugin also keeps count of all your downloads.
- Post Views Plugin – written by the same author, Lester Chan, the author of Polls & the Download Managers Plugin, this free post-view-count plugin keeps a count of the number of times people have viewed your posts.
- e-Commerce Plugin – if you are selling from your WordPress blog, this free e-commerce plugin could be very helpful. The plugin integrates with all the popular payment methods like Google Checkout, Paypal, Authorize.net, Payment Express and many other trusted payment processors.
- Flickr Picture Plugin – this free Flickr plugin for WordPress will allow you to pull in your Flickr photosets and display them as albums on your WordPress site. There is a pretty simple template provided which you can customize to 100% match the look and feel of your own site.
- MobilePress Publishing your Blog to Mobile devices – this is a very important plugin if you are selling from your blog. You could either make a mobile version of your blog with php coding, or you could use this free mobile plugin to create a mobile version of your blog.
