Free Wordpress Plugin to Send SMS Text Messages from Blogs
SMS Text Message is a plugin for WordPress to allow blog owners update their readers via SMS. Although I would not call it an Essential Plugin , the free WordPress Plugin to send SMS adds a nice trendy feature to the blogs.
With so many people depending on their PDAs & phones to socialize on the internet & even to browse, this plugin could help bloggers send out updates or important messages to readers.

The SMS Wordpress Plugin is still undergoing enhanced development. As such, the basic feature allows users to sign up for blog updates with their phone numbers through a sidebar widget. The blog owner then can periodically send alerts, updates, etc via SMS to every one who registered.
As of July 2008, the SMS Wordpress Plugin only works for US Carriers . Cell numbers can be entered in any format by the user. A number (123) 456-7890 is the same as 123-456-7890, which is the same as 1234567890. This is again the same as 123 456 7890.
The plugin release note mentions that currently the plugin is enhanced further to work with other international cell phone carrier service as well.
