Here is an Idea - Voice Activated Google Search especially for mobile searches

2 May 2008 15 views No Comment

Google is my default home page. I use Google for all my searches. And in a normal work day it could be like 20 times during office hours. I come back home and start working on my personal blogs and websites. And there again, I have to use Google Searches. I see something on the TV and I come back and Google it for more information. On an average, I probably use Google Searches almost 50 times!

.

While at work, I have to type in my searches, click through the search results and browse in silence. Whether you like it or not, you have to use your fingers to type and click and roll the mouse. While at home, I could use voice technology.

.

So here is my idea . Google should give a voice activated search facility. You speak out what you want to search and the technology automatically puts in the sentence or the words or the phrase in Google Search bar and Google queries the internet.

.

When the search results show up, there could be a small speaker button next to the search results and once you click it, the computer will read out the content online for you. All you got to do is listen! If you want to move onto the next result, click on the speaker icon next to it. The computer will stop reading the former search result and start reading the new one. You can use a ear phone and volume control on the computer so that you do not disturb anyone else.

.

The voice technology & speech to text is already available and can be implemented easily if large companies like Google want them to. That would be a true interactive search. Such technology would be immensely helpful if you are searching Google on a tiny mobile phone. You can rest your fingers for a while and use your ears to browse!

.

So that is my idea. Whats yours?
