How Much Money do You Make from Blogs – Some Make Over $20000 a Month

I would not like to confuse making money from blogs with running your business on blogs. Darren Rowse is running a poll on his blog asking people to tell how much money they are making every month from blogging.

Darren Rowse is one of the most successful professional bloggers who have been providing excellent tips & suggestions on how to excel in blogging.

And he is also one of those who make a six figure income from blogs.

Although the data till date is from about 6000 bloggers who follow Darren, it still highlights a few important aspects of the money that bloggers make.

I am hoping that more people contribute to this poll so as to get a more meaningful data from the statistics. 6000 is not a number that could prove anything, but at least these are the bloggers who follow Darren Rowse & hence, a good assumption is, they are serious about making money from blogging.

• There are a large number of people who blog with the intent of expressing themselves. They do it out of love & probably out of a desire to socialize with like minded people in areas that interest them.

• A few of them probably show Google ads or similar but making money from their blogs may not be their primary intent & hence their incomes lie within $50 a month. Understandable.

• Then there are people on the other end of the spectrum who make over $250,000 a year. They are probably the serious ones, who are into internet business & blog either to connect or with the intent to sell. They are not the casual bloggers.
• Then there is this large section of bloggers who make anything from $50 to about $3,000 a month. This section represents people who are still experimenting with various ways to earn more. They are serious in their intent to make it big, but lack the networking power to help them cross the $5,000 a month earning barrier.
• The number of people who make anything from $5,000 a month to $20,000 a month from blogging is fairly less. I am sure that is because such bloggers have not entered their data.
• This small snapshot of data shows that there are probably three major earning barrier marks – the $100 a month from blogging is the first, the $3,000 a month from blogging is the second while the last seems to be on the higher side of making over $20,000 a month from blogging.

Where are you today? And where do you wish to be a month from now?

Many small business professionals have also started to use blogs to set up a communication channel with their customers. They also make quite some money from blog ads.

What this poll does not show is how many of the bloggers are basically compounding their regular business income with additional ad money from blogs. That will skew the data considerably.
