How to begin blogging! Tips to get started with Blogging

With the blogging technology advancing so rapidly, you could be overwhelmed with the amount of information available that could help you start. A few that crossed my mind when I began in early 2006 were:

• The basic question – why should i blog?
• I have a website for a long time, do I need to start all over again?
• How do you choose where to blog?
• What all should I know along with writing or showing my pictures and videos?
• Should I set it up on a free site or should I get my own host?
• And finally, what do you write? And how frequently do you write?

I searched the internet over months and found similar information written up in various different ways. But none were concise enough to be used as a single guide or tutorial that I could have used to get through blogging.

The logical steps, the ones that have found to be constructive in establishing yourself as a professional blogger would be to start, gather experience and mature knowing the ins and outs of the technology, knowing where to reach out for help, finding the best technology for yourself, learning the basics of coding (and really, knowing the basics of Cascading Style Sheets, CSS, would help a lot) and then choose a host and run your blog on your own domain.

During this process, which ideally takes about 6 to 9 months for someone new to blogging and technology, you would also figure out what you love to write about and what your readers most frequently respond to. And bingo! You are all set to be a professional blogger.

There are genuine methods of earning money from publishing. It makes sense to know the ways and then know about what works and what doesn’t. Not everything successful for me would work for you and vice-versa. There is a certain amount of experimentation that is necessary for you to find your unique path.

If done correctly and persistently, blogging could provide to be a great way to relax in the least. A nice way to communicate with an audience so diverse in their culture and thought! And it could prove to be a great way to educate yourself as well as netowrk with like minded people.

Over and above that, blogging and publishing could provide you with an additional source of income. It takes time to grow that income, and depends on what you are writing about and how engaged your readers are with you. On average, as a matured blogger you could earn anything from US $200 a month to over a few tens of thousands a month! I would hate to put a number here, but I must insist that a significant earning is possible. And there are no secrets!

Since I have gone through this whole process over and over again while I set up & ran multiple websites & blogs, I decided to put my learnings together in this blog. My effort would be successful if you find my blog helpful in setting up and running your own blog.
