The Google Design team presented these tips on making a great website, mostly defined from user’s experience. Google User Experience team points out that from a user or a visitor’s point of view, a website or blog that is attractive must have:

• usefulness & adds value to the reader
• fast loading
• simple layout & navigation
• engages the visitor with interesting & convincing content
• innovative & ingeneous
• universal in approach appealing to a wide audience
• beautiful in look & feel with good combination of color, font, lines & spaces
• trustworthy & dependable information with credits to reputed information sources and
• having a personal touch

Having a good mix of these points would make a website profitable & popular.And having these design tips in place would make websites & blogs search engine friendly as well.

People who wish to make money on the internet usually do so by advertising products & services. We are often tempted to earn more by displaying pop-ups (including pop sliders, pop under ads). These are usually high paying ads & have 100% success rate.

Taking the cue from Google again, pop-up ads of any form are not only a distraction to the reader, but also poses a risk to the user. Pop Ups often crash browsers disrupting the reader’s activities. Google strictly stays away from any pop up advertising, mentioning them as annoying.
