Messenger TV New Video Player from Microsoft - combines Online Video & Chat

Formerly known as Web TV, Microsoft has revamped its popular Messenger to combine a chat client and a video player. Web TV, or now MSN TV , works with a subscription from MSN TV service. Bloomberg reports that Microsoft is launching the new player with the intent to generate revenue from internet advertising. Microsoft’s new software will allow users to chat while seeing online video with the new Messenger TV player.

The first launch will be in Europe, which has the largest number of MSN Live users. Europe today has about 95 million registered MSN Live users, the largest concentration among the 250 million worldwide registered users. Users will now be able to use & share music, videos & media clips from MTV Networks, UK Channel Four, Sony BMG & EMI. Microsoft mentioned PepsiCo & Twentieth Century Fox among the brands who have already signed up with Microsoft to run advertising campaigns on Messenger TV.
