Randy Pausch on Achieving Childhood Dreams - Last Lecture at Carnegie Mellon
Very recently Dr Randy Pausch delivered the “Last Lecture ” at the Carnegie Mellon University. It was an hour and a half expression of trust & his faith in succeeding by helping others succeed.
Here is a link to the video on YouTube .
During his tenure he had worked to establish the Entertainment Technology Center which is now making global footprints across US, Pacific Asia & Australia. The most interesting of their success has been the Alice Project, whose primary theme was to have a playful way of teaching. The methodology has caught up like wild fire within the child and the adult education societies.
Dr Randy and his team has harnessed the power of digital media, merged it with virtual reality technologies and produced a tangible product that makes learning fun! The true meaning of “Edutainment “.
In his words, his success comes from the fact that he was able to pull two almost complimentary competencies to work together - artists and technologists!
Although he mentions that the mind-fake for his lecture is truly a message for his kids, there is a lot of simple common sense that we could re-learn from this 80 minutes of video.
