Starting & Building an Online Network – Tips for New Bloggers

Share

Online Networking is one of the key success factors for new bloggers . With so many social websites available, it is a challenge to focus on one & ignore another.

An online identity is essential to maintain & updated. Facebook is very popular both as a social network as well as a networking site for small business . And so is MySpace if you are an artist selling your audio video tracks online .

However, since the social networking sites are over crowded, new bloggers can find it very difficult to create a momentum with his or her blogs.

In this article I shall share how I started off building my own online friends & how you could start converting social network contacts into readers & possibly customers .

These 3 tools described below have worked for me & many other new bloggers & home professionals who wanted to benefit from having online friends & communities.

  • start off with locating your friends from school & college. Reconnect with classmates again . I have connected with more trusted friends from schools & colleges in this way. They have not only helped me expand my network but have also become my dedicated readers
  • use People Search to locate people you know from work or from the neighborhood. These sites have millions of registered users & provide accurate information on postal address & emails that you can use to reconnect
  • use People Finders to reconnect with people you have associated with either at work or on social occasions. These websites verify their information & could provide you with very accurate demographic information too

Social networking websites lose traction after a while. You may add hundreds or even thousands of "friends" on your Facebook or Myspace, but if they cannot relate to you, they may not be interested in your activities as well. This is dormant relationships – good to show off but of no real use in business.

LinkedIn began as a networking solutions for professionals & has been used to build customers, reconnect with costomers & even make cold calls for sales. But this one too suffers from the problems of adaptibility. And it could change its business model to put restrictions on users from generating newer business connections.
